How High Definition Affects Makeup and Hair Artists

High Definition is when images are displayed on wide screen format with a clearer and sharper quality as it picks up each individual detail of the image. Because of how clear high definition images are, they are known to be unforgiving as all flaws become magnified.
Makeup and Hairstyle artists can work wonders on imperfections such as split ends, oily shine, fine hairs, pimples, dark circles, crows feet and rashes, but as soon as high definition photography comes into play it can pick up and magnify all of imperfections that the makeup artist worked hard to mask and in fact make them look much worse than they naturally would.
When working with High Definition, makeup artists have to consider all imperfections and make sure that they use the right products and techniques to enhance and maintain the person's natural appearance and not make the imperfections worse or the makeup too caked and unnatural. Many Digital Camera's have options to help enhance the skin, however the imperfections cannot be completely hidden with this alone.

When applying makeup, the artists must also consider the lighting as makeup can look much different in natural and artificial lightings. While recording in high definition, the type of lighting used will amplify every little detail so it is imperative to apply the makeup in the correct lighting for high definition use.

When dealing with oily shine it is important that the makeup artist uses powder based products to prevent the high definitions focusing and emphasizing the shine.
As the makeup industry is forever evolving, there are now products specifically made for High Definition, such as HD Primers, HD Foundations, HD Powders etc... that help to soften the appearance of the skin and reduce the appearance of fine lines and enlarged pores.
Makeup artists also tend to use a technique known as airbrushing when dealing with high definition, where they spray the product on to the skin instead of dabbing it on with a sponge or brush, to give a smooth, even a flawless appearance without being caked on or patchy.

To conclude, High definition, as explained above, can be quite tricky for makeup and hair artists, however with the right tools, techniques and products, they can create the most stunning images.
