Analysis of Estella

Estella is an orphan who was adopted by miss Havisham, her character is very cold, heartless and emotionless. This was the bringing up of Miss Havisham, she wanted Estella to be the one who torments and breaks men's heart. Estella was never went out to play and the one day came along Pip. Miss Havisham invited Pip claiming that he has come over to the house to pay with Estella, but truthfully he was there for Estella to practise on. Pip fell in love with Estella but due to the way Estella had been brought up typically she broke Pip's heart even when she did not want to. She has a very manipulating and miss leading persona that she let Pip think that she would marry him but instead broke Pip's heart and made him cry and got married to a gentleman called Drummle who treated Estella with no love and was abusive towards her for many years.

However Charles Dickenson did show that under that cold beauty was a person with a heart, it showed her secret and true feelings for Pip and did not enjoy hurting him. Her emotions was showed how she said she had a hard time expressing herself and her emotioning and it was hard for her to love. Eventually when Miss Havisham and Drummle dies it showed a side of Estella that she was finally free to express her feelings and for once smile.
