Evaluation Of The Project

This whole semester and last semester I have learnt so many new techniques that I did not know before, I have enjoyed every part of the project that we have done from no eyebrows pale skin to dirty teeth and old ages skin, I have loved every single part of it. While working towards our final idea I do love that the fact we are developing new skills before we actually finalize our design. I have pretty much enjoyed blogging as well, but I have had some struggles that I have over comes. I enjoyed learning how to become a make-up designer, then learning the technique of continuity, then working under pressure for not pre-prepping the model before our assessment. My one biggest struggle was during my Estella assessment. My last model had cancelled on me last minute and my friend agreed to help me that very day so I had to find a new model within and hours of the assessment. But what I found most difficult was the fact that she had ring loop extensions that where in desperate need of getting re-done since the glue was coming out. But I was prepared to face a challenge as I feel they make you gain a new skill each and every time,  what was difficult I was scared of brushing my models hair wrong just in case i pulled on her actual hair and this took a lot of my time during the assessment luckily my make-up was not too complex so I did have that little bit extra time for the hair. The hair did not come out picture perfect but it did still look amazing after all the troubles I went through to create it. I cant believe the year has gone by so fast, it just felt like as we just started, I have enjoyed the support and the love on this course. I found working towards my brief quite easy as everything we did towards the brief was taught to us step by step and was not like how my college was. I feel like I have gained some strong point in my make-up and hair from my first year more make-up than hair as I think I need to learn more hair and build that side of my ski much stronger as I have always struggled with hair and hoping that next year will provide more hair classes.
For My Claudia and Quentin I am Really happy with the outcome for my clauda look it was done under short time due to Martina needing to catch a coach and for my Quentin my first model did not come to the shoot because of persona sudden circumstances then I had a back-up model who had the stomach bug and wasnt able to model for a while, I did panic and think I would not find someone but luckily my back up model got well within two days. I am very happy with the outcome of both my shoots.

Overall I have enjoyed my self doing this brief and I have enjoyed learning new skills from the teachers, I am sad is all over and the first year has come to an end so quickly, I cant wait to see what second year has got in store for us!

My Final Look For Quentin

This is my final look for Quentin The Look is called The Hunters Mark, This did take a long process to create as I first drew the out the look using an eyeliner pencil, then I liquid late the outline so you could see the way the design follows through. Overall I am very pleased with the outcome it came out exactly how I wanted it to look. If I could change or work on anything it would of been to make t even more 3D looking by using more Liquid latex. Shooting on an out door location was hard in this image he is outside a church Hunting for Vampires, I felt like the location was perfect as some Scenes in the Vampire Diaries are around Gothic Architecture. I had to keep playing with the setting to get the right lighting, I also used soft box and a reflector to give a good composition of the lighting.

How I created Quentin's Hunters Mark

  1. To create The Hunters Mark I first freehand sketched the design starting from his right hand up to his neck and face.
  2.  I then used normal liquid latex and applied t over the sketch I created.
  3. I then used thicker latex which was a black color  and traced around the edges of the sketch so it looks more 3D and you can see the snake swirls crossing over each other so that when is painted in you can see the actual design of it and repeated the same process around 3 times.
  4. Once the latex was completed I first applied black grease paint to fill in the tattoo marking.
  5. I then added some shading by using my white color grease paint and shading in the edges to give it more of an 3D effect.
  6. Once it was complete I then set it all with translucent powder so nothing would smudge off.

My Final Look For Claudia

To create my Claudia Look I first created the veins by using liquid latex to give it a more 3D effect, then I applied the foundation on top as I wanted it to have it looking as though is popping through the skin. I then applied the eye shadow creating a smokey look to make her look more fierce within the eyes. I then shaded the veins with red and black to add an shadow effect. I then applied ip liner and lipstick on her lips, I then used a cool brown colour to do her contouring so she looked lke  more dead then alive and then finally  set t all with translucent powder.

When working on my Clauda image  dd not have a lot of time as my model had a coach to catch at a certain time so I was put under pressure to work faster applying the make-up, I fee like experiencing this has made me realise that I can work fast and effective under the pressure and can acheve the look I was aiming for.
Overall For Claudia I am very pleased with the outcome however I feel like I could have done more improvements on the veins, I think that the shading could be a bit less harsh then it is and much more softer. I feel like the hair needed more added volume in the picture the top does look a little flat but if I was to re-shoot it I would add more volume in to the hair

For the studio  actually wanted a back background for my Image but since all the studios was full and I was not shown on how to replace the back drop or there was not a member of staff to help me to add a black back drop roll, I had to work with what I had and decided to stick with the white colour.

Mood Board For Claudia

The word Fierce is what represents Claudia's character, the trio love shows how manipulative she is, I have images of her transition into a vampire showing her veins which is incorporated in my look, the image where she is holding a blood fruit is the pose  had in mind, The lady in the black dress represent the outfit and hair I want my Claudia to have. The smokey eyes and Red lips with the blood is an idea of what kind of make-up I am aiming to do.

Face Charts For Claudia

The look I went for veind popping out under the eyes smokey eyeshadow , bood red lips and cold contoured cheeks.
softly smokey eyes mouth all covered in blood and a touch of rouge on the cheek
this is a simple red lips and winged eyeliner look
In this ook bood is coming out the eyes and mouth with a thick winged liner and cold complexion

Developing My Idea For Quentin

Quentin is the Vampire Hunter and what I want to incorporate in Quentin's look is the Hunters Mark that is represented in the TV series Vampire Diaries

This image is the Hunters Mark that has a hidden code that represents a ways to get rid of the Vampires for good.

I want to incorporate that within my look but also add my own touch to the look so is not exact copy.
I was looking at Tribal Tattoos as I think they both have a same representation and similar style art.

Developing my Make-up Idea for Claudia

Claudia is a Vampire an evil and fierce vampire who loves attention and is manipulative.

I want to capture Claudia as a Vampire by adding the Vampire Diaries Features in my Makeup look such as when they turn in to vampires their veins under the eyes pop out and the eyes start to change colour.

This is a great tutorial but unless like the typical flat veins I want my veins to look 3D and pop out  and I will be doing this by using liquid latex.

For the eye make-up I want Claudia to have Fierce looking eyes and for that I have decided to do a smokey eye make-up look to really add the darkness in the eyes.

For the Lips I will be using red lipstick and adding blood with vampire teeth  so it really represents the vampire with Claudia.

I do want to incorporate contouring but not to add warmth but to add a cold feel because after all she is the walking dead.

Quentins Story

Quentin plays the role of a vampire Hunter. Who previously encountered another witch hunter who was killed by a vampire and Quinton was the next chosen which Hunter. While Quinton was on his hunt for vampires she suddenly and counted beautiful creature name is Claudia who was also a vampire. He did not realize at first she was a vampire because of her supernatural powers as being the doppelganger. He got to know her and fell in love in the first moment we met her. Because Claudia is evil and manipulative she led on Quentin as she already sussed out that he was a witch hunter. When printing found out that Claudia was a vampire it was too late for him as he was already crazy in love with her. He started hunting vampires and killing those Who try to get close to Claudia and would not allow anyone else to fall in love with her. Since the forces of predator and hunter will not allow them to be together so Quentin has decided if he can't have her nobody can.

One key word that describes Quinton is demented. He is so crazy and insanely in love with Claudia that he is blinded by jealousy and anger if anyone tried to come near or even love Claudia.

Idea Changed From Mrs Laderman to Quinten

After having my presentation in front of the class and having my feedback from the class and the teacher I actually really thought about me doing Mrs Laderman to me as it is her story and make up and he was quite close to Claudia's enough and there was no difference between and they both were vampires. So now I have decided I will be doing Quinten instead of Mrs Laderman and will be creating a diverse look then and Claudia and not having both characters as vampires.

Informal Assessment For Estella

My look was to create a young pretty Estella in her beautiful cold days. The hair is a Early Victorian style mix with late Victorian style I wanted her to have loose but yet curly style and her makeup to be very natural and light.
Creating my Estelle Was very challenging with the hair. My model had ring loop extensions in her hair and brushing through the hair and styling it was not that easy. But looking back the hair and makeup have come out better then I had originally thought. I could have worked better on the hair much more and the challenge did gain me an new experience that I can style hair with ring loops extensions. I know if I did not have that challenging part of the extensions I know the hair would come out much better. The makeup now looking at the picture needs more blusher on the cheeks to make them look more rosier and if I applied a bit more of tint on her lips to make them stand out more. I wanted my Estella to be simple and pretty and I have kind of achieved that from my look.

Costume. The throw worn by my model is a real Victorian throw over and the dress is not very Victorian but it is a real vintage dress that made the look complete. She wore a corset and under skirt to complete the whole feel of the Victorian era. I was really happy with the costume look and my overall final look. There are some areas that need to yet still need improvement but after all after facing the challenges thrown at me I still pulled off a nice look.
